Her research focuses on pelvic fractures in two patient groups that have been understudied, namely children with a pelvic ring fracture to high energy injury and elderly patients with a pelvic fragility fracture. For the children, there have been set up several studies in which retrospectively will be looked at the outcomes of all children with a pelvic ring fracture who have been treated over the past 20 years. In addition, together with the ErasmusMC, the research will follow children with an open pelvic fracture to see how they fare in terms of long-term complications. An international expertise panel will be realized to create a consensus-based guideline for the treatment of children with a pelvic ring fracture. In the studies on fragility fractures of the pelvis in elderly patients, a large regional multicenter prospective study will be set up in which a 'best practice' will be implemented using the stepped-wedge model in order to optimize care for these vulnerable patients and to improve 1-year survival. The award of € 216.000 is a scholarship from the Doctoral School that enables doctors to work full-time on their research. On the picture Anne is in the middle.
