Aim

To support young postdoctoral talent at the crucial stage in their innovative research towards successful future grant applications.

Target group

Postdocs (fundamental, translational, clinical researchers) within 61 years after their PhD with potential to start/continue their own research line and research group within one of the AII programs.

What can be applied for

A maximum budget of 80.000 euro.

This will fund: Salary costs (for postdoc salary), publishing costs, travel costs and consumables. The grant has to be necessary to cover the salary of the applicant.

Eligibility criteria

  • The applicant is in the first 61 years after obtaining his/her PhD-degree.
  • The applicant needs to be (or become) embedded in at least one of the programs of the AII research institute.
  • Only completed application forms are eligible for evaluation. The applicant needs to be open and transparent about other submitted grant applications.
  • The applicant needs to provide an overview of other grant applications, submitted and currently under review. You may need to make a choice between this postdoc grant and other grants obtained in the event these grants are overlapping.

Evaluation criteria

  • Motivation on how this grant will be crucial for the career of the applicant (counts for 20% in the candidate's score)
  • Scientific quality of the project (counts for 40% in the candidate's score)
  • Scientific potential of the applicant (counts for 40% in the candidate's score)

Selection Procedure

The AII Grant committee will evaluate the applications of the researchers based on the aforementioned criteria. A maximum of 4 candidates will be invited for an interview.

Requirements after obtaining the AII Postdoc Grant

  • We expect the granted postdocs to write subsequent grants to remain embedded in at least one of the programs of the AII research institute.
  • Refer to the AII postdoc grant in the acknowledgements of any publications resulting from the research performed funded by this grant by adding “This research was supported by a Postdoc Grant of the Amsterdam institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases” to the acknowledgements.
  • Refer to Amsterdam institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases when communicating about this grant, e.g. in the (social) media
  • Include the AII logo in your posters or presentations and mention this grant in the acknowledgements by adding “This research was supported by a Postdoc Grant of the Amsterdam institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases”.
  • Scientific final report describing how this grant has helped you to build your CV and network and which new knowledge, valuable to AII, has been obtained. Also suggestions to improve this grant are welcome.
  • Financial final report.
