General

CRISPR based genome editing has revolutionized the ability to manipulate genomes for applications in agriculture and human disease. CRISPR based therapies have entered the clinic with treatments for blood diseases like sickle cell disease and beta-thalassemia, metabolic diseases like transthyretin amyloidosis and familial hypercholesterolemia, and several types of cancers using CAR-T therapies. CRISPR based technologies are also explored for diagnostics including a detection platform for COVID-19 and tuberculosis. CRISPR based genome editing has been disruptive in biomedical research with widespread applications from fundamental basic to translational and pre-clinical research.

The 2nd OOA Advanced CRISPR course will provide a comprehensive insight into the basic of the CRISPR technology and will inform you on the emerging, cutting-edge research technologies and advanced tools. Topics that will be covered include the generation of in vitro and in vivo models, large scale screening and target validation and clinical application.

This OOA course is organized by The Netherlands Cancer Institute and the Amsterdam University Medical Center together with ScreeninC, a national infrastructure for genome editing and large scale functional genomic screening.
