This year, the TCS Amsterdam Marathon joined forces with KWF Dutch Cancer Society to raise as much money as possible for groundbreaking cancer research at Amsterdam UMC Cancer Center Amsterdam. Participants could not only make a voluntary contribution during their registration, but it was also possible to create their own campaign page via the ‘Ren tegen kanker’ platform on the KWF website. More than 600 runners took action through this initiative.

Thanks to all donations and title sponsor TCS, a record amount of money was raised for research at Cancer Center Amsterdam. Annemarieke Gottmer and Peter Neuhuis of KWF and Geert Kazemier of Cancer Center Amsterdam received a check for € 662,000 at the International Award Ceremony. The check was presented by René Wit, the race director of the TCS Amsterdam Marathon and Ashish Babu, CMO of TCS Europe and UK.

KWF director Carla van Gils: “It is fantastic that running against cancer is possible again, and what a great performance by the 600 Race Against Cancer participants! With their incredible efforts, they really make a difference for cancer research at the Amsterdam UMC Cancer Center Amsterdam. We are very grateful to all of the participants and the organization.”

“A great day and a great fundraising for our research due to good collaboration with KWF, main sponsor TCS, and marathon organizer Le Champion!” says Prof. Geert Kazemier, director of Cancer Center Amsterdam Foundation. “The runners and their sponsors all raised it together for Cancer Center Amsterdam. Cheers all around!”
