Dr. Terrence Murphy, associate professor at the Yale School of Medicine will talk about Bias from Truncation of Longitudinal Data due to Death in Aging Research
Title webinar: Bias from Truncation of Longitudinal Data due to Death in Aging Research
Dr. Terrence Murphy, will visit the APH Methodology program online! Dr. Murphy is an associate Professor of Geriatrics and Biostatistics at the Yale School of Medicine. With twelve years experience in the design and manufacture of clinical instrumentation and advanced training in engineering statistics, he is interested in the application of engineering tools to research on aging. Current areas of investigation include multivariate statistics for characterization of multiple co–morbidity, robust design techniques for assessing the tradeoffs of multiple medication use, and the use of hierarchical models, propensity scores, and Bayesian techniques to enhance the analysis of non-randomized interventional designs such as the fall–related utilization of healthcare services by older persons in the state of Connecticut.
This talk will discuss some techniques that either adjust for or quantify the potential bias from the competing risk of death in clinical studies of aging. It includes illustrations from several published studies.
