A variety of methodological projects around the evaluation of diagnostic and prognostic tests, devices and biomarkers.

The BiTE project group is a group of three senior researchers leading a variety of methodological projects around the evaluation of diagnostic and prognostic tests, devices and biomarkers. Projects include: LITMUS, the evaluation of biomarkers for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease; QUADAS-C, development of a quality assessment tool for comparative accuracy studies; the development of a decision tool for colorectal cancer screening; and development of methods for assessing the certainty of evidence in guidelines.

No test is perfect, but the question remains when a test is accurate enough to be practically relevant. Furthermore, even perfect tests may have very little effect on clinical decision making and therefore on patient outcomes. Our groups focuses on all elements of test evaluation research: from analytical validity via diagnostic accuracy towards effectiveness of testing and interpretation of test results.
