The program Inflammatory Diseases focuses on immunodeficiency’s and auto-immune disorders, hyper-inflammatory diseases, allergy and diseases caused by transplant rejections.
Reprogramming immunity to treat inflammatory diseases

The inflammatory diseases program has two distinctive features:

  1. Its translational nature, integrating molecular in vitro work and experimental animal modelsI to sophisticated immunological diagnostics and therapeutic approaches in patients, and
  2. Its trans-disciplinary nature encompassing similar types of inflammation in different tissues and organs such as the bowel (IBD), lung (Asthma), skin (psoriasis), and joints (RA).

Mission and goals

The goal of the inflammatory diseases program is to obtain a broad understanding of the immunological defects underlying disease-causing chronic inflammations. To achieve this goal the institute will  integrate “vertically” pre-clinical research, clinical research, and clinical care in different disease areas and “horizontally” research performed by organ-specialists in different departments. Strengthening and harmonizing the research in inflammatory diseases will positively influence quality, safety and cost-effectiveness of the clinical care for patients.
