Title: Brain health and cognition in the 1946 birth cohort
Prof Schott (Honorary Professor Amsterdam University Medical Centre) leads a number of translational clinical research projects in the dementias, with particular interests in atypical dementias and how clinical assessment, imaging and fluid biomarkers, and genetics can be combined to improve differential diagnosis and identify pre-symptomatic Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. He co-leads the mental ageing programme of the MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing, and leads Insight 46 a major neuroimaging study of the British 1946 Birth Cohort. He is an MRC Investigator, a UK Council for Graduate Education Recognised Research Supervisor, has supervised 20 PhD students. In 2019 he was appointed as the inaugural Chief Medical Officer for Alzheimer’s Research UK, Europe’s largest dementia research charity.
