Disruption of immune homeostasis is associated with the emergence of immune-mediated pro-inflammatory diseases (such as inflammatory bowel disease and rheumatoid arthritis), as well as with diseases linked to immunodeficiency or immunosuppression, including frequent infections and cancers.
