Nutrition & Movement NU (VBNU) is a collaboration between the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA) and Amsterdam UMC. Initiators are the consortium of lectorates People in Motion at HvA and the departments of Dietetics and Nutrition Sciences and Rehabilitation Medicine at Amsterdam UMC, as well as Amsterdam Movement Sciences research institute.

The objective of VBNU is to optize health and recovery from disease through the combination of nutrition and exercise. We want to achieve this by optimally aligning care, research and education on nutrition and exercise. In Amsterdam UMC and at the HvA a lot of research is done on this topic. The results from these studies are published in scientific journals and presented at conferences. Too often the step to implementing these results in healthcare practice is missing. Healthcare, and thus the patient, can benefit more from the research we do.

VBNU wants to be the foundation in the collaboration between healthcare, education and research. The target groups of VBNU are therefore: healthcare professionals, researchers and teachers working in the field of nutrition and/or exercise. The disciplines of dietetics and physical therapy are the most recognizable, but other disciplines are also target groups.
