As the holiday season unfolds, we reflect on a year marked by notable dedication and achievements, and are looking ahead with confidence towards the approaching new year. Each one of you has played a vital role in our journey through 2023, and for this, we extend our deepest gratitude.

The care and scientific research on cancer at Amsterdam UMC have now been formally integrated into Cancer Center Amsterdam. Additionally, the physical move of Amsterdam UMC's cancer care to the De Boelelaan location is nearing completion. Fortunately, this progress is matched by equally encouraging developments in the RDC building, where all oncology labs from both Amsterdam UMC locations will be housed in 2025 [link]. Moreover, the ADORE initiative is diligently working to establish a robust governance and research support framework for these groups. Importantly, the larger Amsterdam region plays a crucial role in CCA’s progress, evidenced by the establishment of unique research and care networks among regional hospitals.

All our efforts have been clearly recognized during the external site visit in November. Cancer Center Amsterdam received commendations for its strides in lateralization, its high scientific output, and its significant societal impact. However, we also acknowledge the areas identified for improvement. We are committed to addressing these points in the coming years and will keep you regularly informed of our progress.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you for your ongoing contributions to enhancing the lives of patients with cancer through care, research, education, and valorization. As we look ahead, we eagerly anticipate a prosperous 2024. We wish you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season.
