Principal Investigator Dr. Erwin van Wegen from AmsterdamUMC has received a grant of €600,000 from ZonMw for the study: Cue2Walk, cost-effectiveness of automated freezing detection and provision of external cues in comparison to usual care in people with Parkinson's disease. This is an important milestone in medical device research into the treatment of Freezing of gait in people with Parkinson's disease. The project specifically focuses on the cost-effectiveness of automated freeze detection and the provision of external cues as a treatment option ('smart cueing') for people with Parkinson's disease. The aim is to assess whether these technologies have added value over usual care and are cost-effective in the long term.

Co-applicants include Dr. Marc Rietberg, Prof. H,. Anema, Prof. dr. Henk Berendse of AmsterdamUMC, Dr. H. van Dongen from VU university, Dr. Jorik Nonnekes and Prof. dr. Bas Bloem of RadboudUMC and the company Cue2Walk Int.

The project will last 4 years and is expected to go until January 2028.
