Focus of research

With my research and trough health advocacy I aim to reduce risk factors for cancer, reduce inequalities and improve the lives of women diagnosed with gynecological malignancies. To achieve these goals I am using different avenues:
First we are evaluating how obesity influences operative risks for women with ovarian cancer. Also we are determining  if these women are achieving better treatment outcome if they receive physiotherapy and dietary advice during treatment.

Secondly we are evaluating if comprehensive use of patient reported outcome measures which are made available to the physicians in their consultation room can lead to better understanding of the signs and symptoms women are experiencing. With better understanding we hope to tailor follow up and after care to individual patient needs. In the near future we will use these data and artificial intelligence to develop explainable prediction models for the outcome of cervical cancer treatment

In our clinic aimed at the late effects of treatment we are focusing on the long term side effects of cancer treatment. Using a multidisciplinary approach we deliver care to woman with new or chronic complaints originating from surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy or a combination of these treatment modalities.

Lastly as a health advocate I contribute to a smoke free society
