New to the AI&I Collaboration Grant 2025 is the option to submit an application in one of the three focus areas identified by AI&I, namely:

  • Post-acute infection syndrome
  • Immunomonitoring
  • Vaccination

Note: In addition, it is still possible to submit a general collaboration application.


Goal

The AI&I Collaboration Grant is designed to encourage new collaborations between AI&I researchers (postdocs and PI"s), requiring the involvement of at least two research groups from different departments.

For proposals within one of the focus areas participation is required from both AI&I Infectious diseases and Immunology programs with a new collaboration between two different departments.

Topics can be

  • Pilot experiments and studies to facilitate joint grant applications
  • Increase quality of research by joint knowledge and resources within AI&I
  • Develop new techniques

This may result in a new

  • Collaborative network
  • Collaborative research line
  • External grant proposal

      What can be applied for

      A fixed budget of 20.000 euro (only research consumables/ not for salary costs)

      Eligibility criteria

      • The proposal for the general collaboration grant must involve a new collaboration between 2 different departments
      • The proposal for the designed focus areas must involve a new collaboration that includes participation from both the AI&I Infectious diseases and Immunology programs, with the collaborating researchers coming from two different departments
      • A collaboration is considered new if there have been no joint publications between the involved groups in the past five years
      • A researcher may be involved in only one application
      • A proposal can be submitted by maximum three researchers
      • The project must start before October 2025 and be completed within one year
      • The applicants need to show how their project strengthens new collaborations within the AI&I research institute

      Important dates

      • Deadline project proposals: 15th May 2025
      • Outcome: July 2025

        Projects will be evaluated based on the following criteria

        • Quality of the work plan (40%)
        • Contribution of each applicant and presence of the necessary expertise for the project (40%)
        • Motivation of grant proposal (20%)

          Requirements after obtaining the AI&I Collaboration Grant

          • Submission of a scientific final report describing how this grant stimulated a new collaboration and the archieved results
          • Submission of a final report of expenses within one month after the project's completion
          • Refer to the Al&l Collaboration Grant in the acknowledgements of any publications resulting from the research performed funded by this grant by adding "This research was supported by a Collaboration Grant of the Amsterdam institute for Immunology and Infectious deseases” to the acknowledgements
          • Refer to Amsterdam institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases in communications about this grant ( e.g. in the (social-) media, in presentations, or pitches)
          • Give a presentation at the AI&I Annual meeting (2026)
