Focus of research
My work focusses on understanding cellular and molecular mechanisms of relapse in acute myeloid leukemia. Together with PhD students, I develop computer models for the prediction of residual disease in flow cytometry data, that allow accurate, objective, and fast results. A reliable measurable residual disease assessment will allow a tailored post-induction treatment, as such it contributes to improving outcomes and quality of life for AML patients. Additionally, I aim to gain better insight in biological factors and mechanisms involved in the response to treatment and relapse development.
