Focus of research
Dr. Jonkman is an assistant professor at the department of Anatomy and Neurosciences at Amsterdam UMC - location VUmc. Her research focus is to translate post-mortem MRI signatures of neuropathology to the clinical setting.
Dr. Jonkman is developing herself as an expert on post-mortem MRI and pathology studies in neurodegenerative disease. In 2018 she received the Alzheimer Association Research Fellowship (AARF) to investigate the influence of histological markers on the AD structural network. In 2019 he received a Michael J Fox Foundation grant to study the relationship between MRI and pathology in Parkinson’s disease. With this and other funding, and several excellent collaborations, dr. Jonkman hopes to broaden the search for clinically relevant, pathology-specific imaging biomarkers in neurodegenerative disease.
