Concerted efforts are needed to address the growing cancer problem in Africa and other LMICs. The Global Health program of the Amsterdam Public Health research institute is organizing a global oncology symposium to highlight the cancer problem in Africa, and stimulate collaborations between Dutch and African clinicians and researchers to address it.
A couple of program highlights:
- Opening by Hans van Goudoever - Vice Chair of Board of Amsterdam UMC, Dean faculty of medicine of UvA
- Plenary session on The cancer problem in Africa with presentations by our speakers Jackson Orem, Johannes Berkhof and Katrina Perehudoff, followed by a panel discussion led by Joachim Kikomeko.
- Lightning Talks
- Plenary session on Solutions to the cancer challenge in Africa with presentations by Jaap Bonjer, Jogchum Beltman and Fredrick Chite Asirwa, followed by a panel discussion led by Johnblack Kabukye.
- Closing remarks by Frank Cobelens
