The annual Amsterdam UMC Run (formerly the AMC run) will take place on Sunday June 4, 2023. As part of this running event, the Rehabilitation Department organises the 'Post-ICU Challenge' for the 5th time. A 5 km run, for and with former Intensive Care patients. After an ICU admission, many patients suffer from physical, mental and cognitive complaints, also known as Post Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS). The Post-ICU Challenge draws attention to PICS and the rehabilitation care of former ICU patients. The proceeds of the Post-ICU Challenge go to research in the context of IC rehabilitation and aftercare. The former ICU patients walk together with a buddy, who can be a family member of a healthcare provider. They cross the start and finish together. The former ICU patient walks as far as they can, while the buddy completes the 5 km. More information here. Register here for sponsoring and donations.
