An inaugural lecture, titled "Verbeelding verbindt",  by Prof. Josée M. Zijlstra will take place on Tuesday September 21, at 15.45. She has been appointed Professor of Functional Imaging in Hematology as of September 1, 2019.

“Modern medical imaging technologies like PET/CT and MRI scans are essential for the correct treatment of patients with hematological disorders by making the invisible visible.

Interpretation of these medical images requires teamwork and a broad perspective to see the possibilities but also respect the boundaries of our observations. Look beyond the obvious, not just observe but grasp the whole picture.

Imagination is the basis for inspiration and the development of innovative ideas and offers opportunities for research into the effect of new treatments and thus for making better choices for each individual patient!”

Prof. J.M. Zijlstra-Baalbergen, Hematologist, Amsterdam UMC.
