Amsterdam Cardiovascular Sciences (ACS) started a new mentoring program open to ACS researchers from all levels and research fields. The scope of the mentoring program is to provide advice, support and guidance to researchers who want to pursue an academic career.

The ACS mentoring program is open to ACS researchers from all levels (PhD students, postdocs, assistant professors, associate professors, full professors) and research fields (fundamental, clinical and computational research) and aims to provide advice, support and guidance to researchers who want to pursue an academic career. For this, younger researchers will be coupled with more senior people. To ensure we have enough mentors, by joining the program each mentee becomes mentor of a younger researcher (except for first-year PhD students).

The topic of discussion between mentees and mentors will be decided by the mentee depending on his/her needs or difficulties to overcome. Examples of topics are: how to improve my CV? Which grants am I eligible for? Where to focus my effort among different grants/project? How to become more visible in my academic field? How to create awareness for my study? How to solve an issue with a colleague/PI? How to keep a good work/life balance? How do I know if I am suited for academia? What does it take to pursue an academic career? etc.

If you are interested in joining the program as a mentor and mentee, please fill in this short form online.
