The board of directors of Amsterdam UMC decided on 27 May 2020, in accordance with the advice of the Amsterdam Research Board, to cancel the previously required CWO pre-test for research complying with Dutch law on Medical Research in Humans.
The CWO pre-test was required for research at location VUmc and with this decision, pilots at location AMC are cancelled as well. Department heads and PI's will remain primarily responsible for quality and feasibility of research proposals.
All research at Amsterdam UMC is embedded in one of eight research institutes. Each research intitute appointed a committee of scientific research (CWO) which intended to improve the quality of research proposals. Now, these institutes will host a meeting for department heads and PI's to discuss research plans every other year. This guarantees research will fit the themes and strategies of these research institutes.
