General

In July and August two neuro-anatomy courses will be held at King's College London for postgraduate students. The courses will be held over the weekends and will last two days. Prior to the in day part of the courses, attendees will have access to 8 online preparatory modules.

This course is a more advanced structural and functional neuroanatomy course reviewing the 'limbic brain', focusing on the anatomy of cognition, behaviour, memory and emotion. The course aims to present the limbic brain in a very clear, logical and memorable style. It is a 2-day programma derived from the popular course 'Neuroanatomy for Psychiatry' to include additional material suitable for a wider audience within the clinical neurology, psychiatry and imaging neurosciences.

During the course the functional anatomy of the limbic lobe, hippocampus, amygdala, prefrontal cortex and 'limbic' loops of the basal ganglia will be reviewed. In addition, the course demystifies the basal forebrain, substantia innominata, 'extended amygdala', olfactory pathways and diffuse neurochemical pathways. This courses emphasises core limbic brain structures of central importance in clinical neurology, psychiatry and the imaging neurosciences.
