More than thirty researchers who have recently received their PhDs can do their research at foreign research institutes thanks to a Rubicon grant from NWO. The Rubicon program gives young, highly promising researchers the opportunity to gain international research experience. Amsterdam Neuroscience researcher Laura Han, who received her PhD degree June 4, 2021, is one of these talented researchers.

Laura Han will visit the Australian University of Melbourne for two years. During her time in Melbourne she will study the adolescent brain age in young people with mood and anxiety disorders, focusing on the question: Do young people with mood and anxiety disorders have brains that are younger or older than they truly are? Her project uncovers the clinical value of adolescent brain age in youth mental health by using it to predict disease characteristics and treatment response.
