General
The Co-Creation for Inclusive Knowledges Lab at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, is excited to announce its first Spring School, taking place from 3 to 6 June 2025.
This spring school is a site for learning and exchanging about co-creative methodologies in research and to reflect critically on what is needed to for these methodologies to advance justice and equality in academia and society. More attention for co-creative methods in academia is an essential step towards respecting and amplifying the perspectives of historically marginalized communities—including their critiques and contestations— and towards creating vital connections between different types of knowledges, hence blurring the boundaries between theory and practice.
Co-creation, in this context, is an invitation to expand and explore the ways in which knowledge can be collectively cultivated, shared, and transformed, with a strong focus on the importance of experiential knowledge of exclusionary structures. In doing so, this Spring School aims to provide a dynamic space for engaging with diverse experiences and practices that strive for a more just and inclusive society. Bringing together academic and societal partners from the Netherlands, Kenya, the USA, and South Africa, participants will engage with critical methodologies such as:
✅Participatory action research
✅Arts-based methods
✅Community-based approaches
✅Co-creation in qualitative and quantitative analysis
The Spring School will equip participants with comprehensive tools to build and sustain meaningful collaborations across different knowledge systems, focusing on topics such as (forced) migration, education, and gender. It is open to all individuals interested in ethical and reciprocal partnerships for social justice, both within and beyond academia. We welcome practitioners, early-career scholars, and professionals from diverse fields to join us in exploring collaborative knowledge-making and sharing.
More details on registration, program, key speakers, and fees will be announced soon on the webpage Co-Creation for Inclusive Knowledges Lab
