Led by Amsterdam UMC in collaboration with partners Health-RI, Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), Maastricht University (UM), and Radboudumc, the project will inventory, refine, and FAIRify existing training materials. But even more importantly, it will foster collaboration among trainers to ensure that resources are reusable and sustainable. Additionally, the project aims to connect this national effort with international initiatives and networks, such as ELIXIR, HemaFAIR, ERDERA, the GO FAIR Foundation, and the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI).
"Researchers and data stewards increasingly face the challenge of making their data FAIR and require proper training to do so," said Dr. Martijn Kersloot, the project’s leader. ”LEARN-FAIR will bring together trainers, share expertise, and ensure that data stewardship education is both high-quality and widely accessible.”
The project is funded by the NWO - TDCC LSH 2023 call aimed at strengthening digital competences in the data-driven life sciences and health domain. LEARN-FAIR aligns with the TDCC-LSH roadmap and supports the Open Science NL Work Programme, contributing to the development of a National Training Platform for Research Data Professionals. By strengthening data stewardship capacity in the Netherlands, the project will advance digital research practices and encourage collaboration across domains.
A website is still under development, but for more information about LEARN-FAIR, its objectives, and outcomes, leave your email address on learn-fair.nl, follow the project on LinkedIn, or contact the researchers via learn-fair@amsterdamumc.nl.
