Prof. Dr. Paul Merkus

Innovation grant (€20.000)

ENT-surgeon and professor of Otology at project 'Artificial Intelligence driven synthetic CT to substitute CT scans of the head and neck region.' Short title: 'MRI-based synthetic CT of head and neck.'

The overall aim of this project is to validate the BoneMRI-algorithm for the head and neck, developed by Amsterdam UMC in collaboration with MRI guidance B.V. This comprises both a technical validation and a clinical validation, in which generated synthetic CT images are compared to true CT images. This research project contributes to the ambitions of the Quality of Care Research program to optimize the quality of care for patients and to make healthcare more patient-centred and sustainable. The project is multidisciplinary and unique within Quality of Care, making it a valuable addition to the research program.

Susan Oudbier

Travel grant (€2.500):

PhD student at project ‘Samen Digitaal (outpatient clinic)’.
Susan will use the grant for visiting the Medical Faculty in Heidelberg, Germany, and follow a Masterclass organized by this Faculty to learn how to internationally translate her research and how to collaborate within an international research network.

Leandra Koetsier

Dissemination grant (€2.500):

Post-doc researcher at project “The development and implementation of integrated care for childhood overweight and obesity in the Netherlands.” Leandra will organize a symposium in collaboration with Care for Obesity/Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Youth on a Healthier Weight (JOGG). Experts from other organizations, such as the ‘National Institute for Public Health and the Environment’ (RIVM) and ‘the Dutch Centre Youth Health Care’ (NCJ), will also contribute to the content of the symposium.
