The APH Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) committee, installed by the i-Act project, attended an inspiring 2-day 'bootcamp', learning more about the basics of DEI and how to translate issues that we see in our research institute into a plan of action.

Following the APH co-funded project i-Act: 'Co-designing actions supporting racial justice driving inclusive implementation science – aiming to co-create actions for APH research institute', the APH DEI) committee was installed in 2022. With this committee we strive to co-create actions to promote an inclusive working climate and inclusive scientific research with APH and beyond. Recently the DEI committee organized a very inspiring 2-day 'bootcamp', moderated by Bouchra Talidi (owner of Inclusioncy) and Ashmita Krishna Sharma.

On day one of the bootcamp we learned more about the basics of D&I, and how to translate issues that we see in our research institute into a plan of action. On day two we presented this plan to important stakeholders (e.g. APH board and program leaders, and D&I promotors within Amsterdam UMC). Together we have set first steps to promote an inclusive working climate and inclusive research. We will start sharing these plans with you soon, for example in following APH newsletters.

If you want to find or join us, or if you have questions or concerns regarding D&I, please get in touch with Mariëtte Hoogsteder.
