The Amsterdam Cohort Hub (ACH) is dedicated to improve the infrastructure for longitudinal cohort studies in the Amsterdam region and to increase the impact of these studies in order to benefit the health of the population and society at large.

Every four weeks, ACH organizes a webinar to present our cohort-studies and discuss themes relevant for cohort studies, their staff and researchers. In May, we have scheduled the following webinar:

      Thursday May 15, 16:00 – 16:45

      • Cohort profile of The NEtherlands Study of Depression in Older persons (NESDO) - Almar Kok, Amsterdam UMC

      • ODISSEI: The Dutch National Infrastructure for Social Science – Tom Emery, ODISSEI (Open Data Infrastructure for Social Science and Economic Innovations)

Cohort profile of The NEtherlands Study of Depression in Older persons (NESDO) - Almar Kok, Amsterdam UMC

Between 2008 and 2014, NESDO followed 378 persons aged 60 years and over diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and 132 controls without depression. The study includes three face-to-face interviews (baseline, 2 years, 6 years) and 10 half-yearly postal questionnaires in between. Since 2019, the cohort was approached again to participate in qualitative interview studies and a COVID study with 16 repeated measurements. NESDO provides rich, multidimensional data providing insight into the course and correlates of late-life depression.

ODISSEI: The Dutch National Infrastructure for Social Science – Tom Emery, ODISSEI (Open Data Infrastructure for Social Science and Economic Innovations)

In this presentation I will give an overview of the structure and operations of ODISSEI and the various services and resources it offers in support of social science research. These include access to CBS Microdata, the LISS panel, the ODISSEI Secure Supercomputer, the ODISSEI Portal, and the SANE secure computing environment.
