The Amsterdam UMC Fellowship vacancy for 2024 is open for applications, this year there are two positions available. At least one of the two selected Fellows will be representing an underrepresented background. The fellowship provides the unique opportunity to gain or retain an excellent researcher to your Department and/or Research Institute.

What

  • The Amsterdam UMC Fellowship consists of a maximum of €750,000 for five years.
  • The award can be spent on salary of the applicant, a PhD student and bench fee.
  • The fellowship includes a tenure track with the possibility to acquire a tenured position after five years.

Candidate’s profile

An excellent researcher who has successfully, completed a prestigious personal grant (for example NWO VI VENI) at a junior postdoc level or has an active NWO VI VIDI, ERC Starting/Consolidator grant (or equivalent). Their line of research should also align with (at least) one Amsterdam UMC Research Institute.

Eligibility

  • Prestigious personal grant laureate at midcareer level. For example a (nearly) successful completion of a prestigious personal grant at junior postdoc level (e.g.VENI) or preparing for a proposal for VIDI, ERC Starting grant or an equivalent.
  • Alignment of their research topic with one of the eight research institutes of Amsterdam UMC (https://www.amsterdamumc.org/research.htm)
  • Proven track academic record (e.g. publications, invited speaker, etc.)
  • Experience in research management
  • Demonstrable affinity with education
  • Experience abroad is a plus
  • In case of equal suitability, preference will be given to an external candidate

Amsterdam UMC researchers with a fixed (permanent) position are NOT eligible.
