The Amsterdam Cohort Hub (ACH) is dedicated to improve the infrastructure for longitudinal cohort studies in the Amsterdam region and to increase the impact of these studies in order to benefit the health of the population and society at large.

Every four weeks, ACH organizes a webinar to present our cohort-studies and discuss themes relevant for cohort studies, their staff and researchers. In December, we have scheduled the following webinar:

      Thursday December 12, 16:00 – 16:45

      • The ABCD cohort study, by Tanja Vrijkotte
      • Data harmonization: the case of NCDC, by Pedro Mateus
The ABCD cohort study, by Tanja Vrijkotte

Tanja Vrijkotte, Associate professor and project leader of the ABCD-study at the department of Public and Occupational Health, will introduce the ABCD-study.

The ABCD-study started in 2003 with the inclusion of ~ 8000 pregnant women in Amsterdam. The aim of the study is to examine a broad range of lifestyle, health and environmental related factors during the prenatal and postnatal period, that potentially influence the child's health and development at birth and later in life. Research within the study has a strong emphasis the origin of ethnic and social disparities in health. The data is collected during several waves by questionnaires, health checks, on-line tasks and linkage with health registrations. Currently, the data collection of Phase 7 at the offsprings age at 19-20 years, is ongoing. In this talk, I will give a broad overview of the study.

Data harmonization: the case of NCDC, by Pedro Mateus

Pedro Mateus, researcher at Maastricht University, will tell us all about data harmonization and the personal health train at the Netherlands Consortium of Dementia Cohorts (NCDC).
