Liza van Dijk has been awarded one of the 5 prestigious Amsterdam UMC PhD Scholarships of 2023! Liza recently graduated as a medical doctor and also has a Bachelor's degree in Human Movement Sciences. She performed her scientific internship at the department of Rehabilitation Medicine and recently received the second prize for the EACD Early Career Researcher Award for her presentation on this work. With the Amsterdam UMC Fellowship, she will conduct research as a PhD candidate into 'Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy: Optimizing Selection and Expectations in children with Spasticity' (ROSES project). Liza's PhD committee will consist of Annemieke Buizer and Marjolein van der Krogt from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and Mariam Slot from the Department of Neurosurgery at Amsterdam UMC. Wouter Schallig and Kirsten Veerkamp are also involved in the research project.
