The ACS Out of the Box (OOTB) grant aims to stimulate new collaborations between Amsterdam UMC researchers from both locations and strengthen future grant applications. This year, nine projects have been awarded.

The OOTB grant is worth €25,000 and possible options for applications are proof of concept experiments, costs for unique (expensive) imaging or genetics studies, working visit abroad to gain expertise, or any other innovative idea which will improve your future grant application.

This year, the following projects have been awarded:

  • Marfan syndrome iPSC-derived endothelial flow alignment and inflammation
    propagation (de Waard and Hordijk)
  • The Epicardial Adipose Tissue/Myocardium IntEraction in Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction (EAT/MIE-HFpEF) study: a proteome analysis of the EAT secretome (Handoko and de Groot)
  • Cardiac immuno-microvascular interface in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (Juni and Hoeksema)
  • Boosting hiPSC-CM genome-editing efficiency via small molecular GSK3 inhibition (Tijsen and Buikema)
  • Human peritoneal macrophage phenotype and its relation to systemic inflammation and cardiac function (van den Bossche, Jakulj and Vervloet)
  • Cardiac 4D flow MRI in pulmonary hypertension (van Ooij and Meijboom)
  • Deciphering the Role of Sex Hormones in Kidney Function: A Comprehensive Proteomic Analysis (van Raalte and van Valkengoed)
  • The mystery of ApoB: A tale of cardiomyocytes and hepatocytes (Zelcer and Kuster)
