The MSH call was aimed at PhD candidates in their last year and postdoc researchers who finished their PhD no earlier than 2021. A grant was available for the applicants to prepare and submit a grant proposal for a new, innovative research project and/or to form a consortium fittiong one of the five research themes of AMS-MSH.
- Dr. Pim van Klij, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, AUMC, was awarded the grant for his project Hip and groin injuries in female football players. Pim will use his €10.000 grant to prepare a VENI proposal.
- The second winner was Marije Sleijser-Koehorst, Movement Sciences, VU, who was awarded the grant for her proposal Machine-learning-based diagnostic models for painful cervical radiculopathy. Marije will use the grant of €10.000 to prepare and submit a grant proposal for a new research project.
Both research proposals aligned well with the MSH research themes, Pim’s proposal with the themes Uncovering the pathophysiology of musculoskeletal disorders and Predicting and understanding the course of musculoskeletal disorders and Marije’s proposal with the theme Reducing societal impact of musculoskeletal disorders.
The jury characterized both proposals as being of high quality and feasible, with clear added value for both AMS and the MSH research themes, and both candidates were considered talented with good scientific and clinical curriculum vitaes.
