Focus of research

Lyonne N.L. Zonneveld is a registered clinical psychologist and psychotherapist and has held this registration since 2007. She obtained her PhD in 2013 with the dissertation “Unexplained Physical Symptoms: patients’ quality of life improved by cognitive-behavioural group treatment tailored to their perspective”.

Her work focuses on bridging the perceived divide between body and mind through research, education, and clinical practice. She is particularly committed to the development of integrated, interdisciplinary, and evidence-based healthcare approaches within a healthcare system that remains largely shaped by mind–body dualism.

Her current research project, “Sleep as an Additional Painkiller”, examines the role of integrated care in enhancing the effectiveness of standard pain treatment, with a specific focus on the addition of an online sleep intervention at the start of conventional pain management. This project is supported by a grant from the Amsterdam University Fund through the Spinoza Fund – Portion D.

Lyonne is recognised for her careful and reflective approach, strong professional commitment, and critical perspective in clinical practice, research, policy development, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
