Focus of research

Romy takes part in the P4CARE study (Pharmacogenetic Passport for Optimizing Drug Treatment Before the First Pharmacological Treatment for Psychiatric Conditions in Primary Care).

The aim of P4CARE is to investigate whether a pharmacogenetic passport at first prescription can support general practitioners (GPs) and pharmacists in helping patients with mood and anxiety disorders find the right medication and dosage more quickly and effectively.

By tailoring treatment to a patient’s genetic profile, this approach may reduce side effects, lower the number of GP visits, and decrease referrals to specialist care. This will be evaluated through a randomized controlled trial (RCT).

Within the study, Romy focuses on the implementation process, both during the RCT and in the transition to routine practice after the study. She is responsible for identifying the barriers and facilitators encountered during the trial and for developing a multidisciplinary roadmap for post-project implementation.
