Deep learning for cardiovascular image analysis
Focus of research
Cardiology applications are the focus of my research. Motivated by real clinical needs, I develop methods that integrate machine learning with medical image analysis, computational fluid dynamics, and computational geometry to extract quantitative anatomical and functional information from cardiovascular imaging. My work aims to make cardiovascular assessment and treatment planning more quantitative and objective.
I am a lab manager of the CARA Lab (https://www.cara-ai-lab.nl), focusing on developing and validation AI systems for real-time analysis of intracoronary optical coherent tomography (OCT) images.
In parallel, I lead research on Marfan syndrome, combining advanced imaging, biomechanics, and AI to improve quantitative risk assessment and understanding of aortic disease progression.
