About the speakers:
Professor Julie Fritz
Julie is Professor at the Department of Physical Therapy, University of Utah, Salt Lake City. She has done a great number of high-quality studies in the field of physical therapy & MSH. Recently, she and her group published a study in Ann Int Med (2021), entitled: Physical Therapy Referral From Primary Care for Acute Back Pain With Sciatica : A Randomized Controlled Trial*. The aim was to evaluate whether early referral to physical therapy reduced disability more than usual care (UC) alone for patients with acute sciatica.

Dr Bas ter Meulen
Bas is an experienced neurologist at the OLVG hospital, Amsterdam. In addition, he is doing his PhD (dept health Sciences, VU) with a focus on management of on sciatica. One of his studies assess the effectiveness of transforaminal epidural corticosteroids and local anesthetic in patients with acute sciatica#. The preliminary results of this RCT will be presented.
