The Amsterdam Public Health (APH) research institute is seeking an inspiring program leader to co-lead its Methodology program. The program brings together researchers dedicated to developing, implementing, and evaluating research methods that drive high-quality public health, healthcare, and biomedical research. Currently the program is being led by Wouter Peyrot and Miranda Langendam. The position of Wouter becomes vacant.
About the Methodology program
The Methodology program fosters innovation across a broad spectrum of methodological domains, including epidemiology, qualitative research, biostatistics, mathematical modelling,(bio)informatics, artificial intelligence, clinimetrics, psychometrics, and participatory research. Our mission is to strengthen methodological excellence within APH and to support researchers in developing cutting-edge approaches that improve scientific rigor and societal impact. We offer grants for work visits, collaborative initiatives, and innovative methodological projects. We organize methods events, tutorials, and writing days, and we award the annual Paper of the Year to celebrate outstanding methodological contributions. The program collaborates closely with other APH research programs and is supported by a program council with junior and senior members, and a program assistant.
Role and responsibilities
As program leader, you will work alongside a co-leader to:
- Co-chair the program council meetings (every 6 weeks)
- Initiate and monitor the implementation of program-specific activities
- Shape, refine, and implement the strategic vision of the Methodology program
- Strengthen APH’s position as a leading network research institute for methodological
- innovation
- Support and engage the Methodology program community through events, funding
- schemes, and communication
- Represent the program within APH and at national and international forums
- Contribute to a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking research environment
Who we are looking for
We welcome applications from mid-career and senior researchers (PI level) with a permanent position. You:
- Are an active member of the Methodology program, demonstrated by previous contributions to program-specific activities
- Demonstrate strategic thinking, leadership skills, and a proactive mindset
- Enjoy supporting researchers at different career stages
- Are available at least 2 hours per week, in a flexible schedule
