On March 15, AI&I researchers will lace up their running shoes for the Amstelveen Spring Marathon, raising funds for research into Post-Acute Infection Syndromes (PAIS). Every donation supports innovative projects to improve diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for PAIS patients. Support PAIS research, donate today!
Meet the Runner: Dilek
As the Business Developer for AI&I, I support researchers in their valorisation activities. This spring, I’ll be running my first (and probably last!) full marathon. For me, there is a clear parallel between valorisation and marathon training: never give up.
Why I Run
I believe it’s important for the institute to unite behind a common goal.
Personal Motivation
There is so much unknown about PAIS. I know patients who are struggling, and I often hear from doctors that they cannot find any organic cause. This motivates me to support research that can bring answers and hope.
The Importance of PAIS Research
PAIS is like an iceberg, we only see the tip. More resources are needed to understand what lies beneath the surface.
Goals for the Fundraising Campaign
My main goal is to raise awareness.
Marathon Preparation
I am following a training plan from the Kiprun app, running twice a week.
A Running Habit
I travel for work 4-5 times a year and always pack my running shoes. Some of my favorite running memories are from Chicago and Berlin (pictures below). Running in Chicago was especially memorable, a great route and a perfect way to explore the city.
