Do you use PubMed for scientific research? And would you like to continue receiving publication alerts and keep your custom search filters? If so, it is important to link your NCBI account to your Amsterdam UMC account. Starting October 6, the existing links with AMC and VUmc in PubMed/NCBI will be discontinued. Only the link with Amsterdam UMC will remain active.

An NCBI account provides access to the extensive platform of the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). Through this account, you can use a wide range of biological and medical databases, including PubMed, GenBank, and various bioinformatics tools.

What does this change mean for you?

  • You must re-link your NCBI account to your Amsterdam UMC account to continue using extra features such as email alerts, saved search filters, and publication feeds.
  • PubMed will remain freely accessible, but a linked account is required for the additional functionalities mentioned above.

What do you need to do?

  1. Log in to PubMed and go to 'Account settings'.
  2. Select 'Linked Accounts' and add 'Amsterdam UMC
  3. Follow the instructions for the SURFcontext link using your Amsterdam UMC email address.

Please note: Make sure to link your account before October 6 to continue using all PubMed features.
