Is a manual therapy rehabilitation program compared to surgical treatment (cost)effective? The Nederlandse Vereniging voor Manuele Therapie (NVMT) has awarded a grant of   150.000 for research on Cost-effectiveness of a multimodal manual therapy rehabilitation program compared to surgery in patients with cervical radiculopathy: a randomized non-inferiority trial. Patients with cervical radiculopathy experience significant limitations in functioning and participation. In the absence of recovery after ~8 weeks of conservative management, patients often undergo surgery with additional risks, medication use and high healthcare costs. A PhD candidate will be appointed. The trial is multicentered (11 clinics) and randomized, with an economic and process evaluation.
