On January 26, the PhD committee members of the AMS research program 'Rehabilitation & Development' organized the first Relab tour!

Jaap van Netten introduced the participants to the intrigues of quantifying plantar pressure of the foot. Initially there was a a short presentation followed by live measurements where the participants' foot pressure were measured. The first measurements were of barefoot walking on a pressure plate imbedded in the floor of the gait lab, where the effects of walking in different conditions was explored. Next, there was a demonstration of measuring foot pressure in the shoe, a technique which has existed for a long time, but has been perfected over the years. These measurements are especially valuable for developing custom-made footwear for patients with a diabetic foot.

After the informative and interesting workshop there were drinks and Dutch 'bitterballen' to conclude a successful kick-off of the Relab tours! A big thanks to Jaap van Netten for providing the workshop.

We hope to see you the next Relab tour at Reade on April 16: Save-the-Date!.
