Last year, multiple laboratories participated in the Freezer Challenge, that led to impressive sustainability results. Together, we saved the daily power consumption of more than 23 households consisting of 4 persons! This year we hope that many (new) labs of Amsterdam UMC will take part in the challenge as well, to save even more.

The Freezer Challenge: who can take part?

The Freezer Challenge aims to stimulate organizations all over the world to reduce their energy consumption by, for example, increasing the temperature of the freezers from -80⁰C to -70⁰C or by cleaning up the freezers. Does your department have freezers that are set at -20⁰C/-80⁰C degrees and/or that can be cleaned up? Then join the Freezer Challenge! The department that saves most energy during this challenge at Amsterdam UMC in 2023 will win a prize, which is awarded by the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare.

Get inspired to join the Freezer Challenge

In order to inform and to inspire labs to take part in the Freezer Challenge, the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare organizes an interactive Lunch Meeting. This meeting will take place at Tuesday, February the 21st from 12:00 till 13:30 at the Box, location AMC. The program will consist of an introduction to the Freezer Challenge, best practices of the winner of the Freezer Challenge 2022 – Institute Tytgat – and an interactive part. Will you be joining? Make sure to subscribe via this form.
