Maarten Boers, Professor of Clinical Epidemiology has always worked during his career to strengthen the clinical epidemiological expertise of the medical staff. Upon his retirement, he established the Clinical Epidemiology Training Fund (OKE fund).

The fund supports young clinicians at Amsterdam UMC who, in addition to their training to become general practitioners, specialists, occupational physicians, etc., wish to delve further into scientific research and train as Epidemiologists.

First call 2023

This first call is for physicians in their PhD program and young staff members of all research institutes of Amsterdam UMC. The OKE fund will reimburse 50% of (max. € 8,495) of the tuition fees for the Master's program in Epidemiology organized by EpidM. For the curriculum, see the website of EpidM.

Who is eligible?

You can apply to this call if you are:

  • A doctor working in one of the departments of Amsterdam UMC with an ambition for an academic career
  • PhD Candidates and young staff members (no more than 5 years after completion of training).
  • Note: People who have already taken courses at EpidM and now want to enter the program are also eligible.

    Procedure

    Annually, 10 applications can be honored. Please submit your cover letter with CV, and letter of recommendation from the head of department to be considered for this call. Email these documents in Word or PDF to m.boers@amsterdamumc.nl. The evaluation committee consists of M Boers, C Terwee and SJ Pinto-Sietsma. The deadline for submission is March 10, 2023. Approximately two weeks after your application, you will be informed whether or not your submission will be honored.
