The Caring Universities project aims to identify psychological problems, prevent them and improve counseling for students.

Psychological problems such as low mood, anxiety and stress are common among students. Such problems lead to study delay and study dropout and have a negative effect on the personal development of students. In the Caring Universities project, the VU and the universities of Leiden, Utrecht and Maastricht work together to identify these problems, prevent them and improve counseling for students.

In addition to an annual screening, we set up an infrastructure to provide preventive and early low-intensity counseling via the internet or mobile applications. Research has shown that students with psychological problems do not receive appropriate care on time and this group could benefit from easily accessible eHealth interventions. All activities within Caring Universities are accompanied by academic research.
