As from July 1, APH researcher Frederieke Schaafsma has been appointed as professor by special appointment Occupation Medicine by the Netherlands Society of Occupational Medicine. 

The chair is an initiative from the NVAB ('Nederlandse Vereniging voor Arbeids-en Bedrijfsgeneeskunde'). Frederieke Schaafsma is Occupational Health Officer and senior researcher at APH. Her research focusses on what employed people, with or without chronical diseases, in different sectors need for a healthy and long-lasting working life. She also examines the cost-effectiveness of interventions for return to work for employees who were absent due to illness or long-term absence due to physical or psychological problems.

As professor by special appointment she will do her best to integrate scientific knowledge in policy making and daily realization in occupational healthcare and occupational curative cooperation.
