Last September, NOS and Nieuwsuur reported that dozens of baggage and cargo carriers have been doing work that is too heavy and have been suffering from physical problems for years. Since then, managers have stepped down, and according to the airport, pilots are in progress to reduce the heaviness of the work. But what specifically has changed? And is it going fast enough?

APH researcher Allard van der Beek, professor of Public and Occupational Health at Amsterdam UMC, was on NOS Nieuwsuur to discuss this. Van der Beek thinks the working conditions of the baggage staff at Schiphol are still not something to be happy about: "It's like they are working in mines."
