With the AR&D magazine we aim to connect people within AR&D and create more connection between researchers and research groups. The magazine will also function as a 'face book'. We challenge you to make a cover page with your research team, write a magazine article, place an advertisement and/or make a call.
Within this contest there are prizes in all four categories to be won. The prizes that can be won are:
- A dinner with your team + the actual cover of the magazine
- A lunch with your team
- Coffee/tea and cake with your team
- Coffee/tea and cake with your team
Requirements
The submitted articles, advertisements and calls will be posted in the magazine when they meet the requirements. Requirements for the 4 categories are:
Cover
- Mention the name of the research (group)
- Small teaser for your article (an article is also required to submit)
- Include the AR&D visual visual (downloadable on the website)
- Include a photo of the entire research group (including PI) (in high resolution)
- Submit on A4 portrait orientation, as a PDF file in color
- Supply a separate list with the names of researchers from the research group
Article
- Maximum 2 pages
- Mention Amsterdam Reproduction & Development in the text
- Mention the name(s) of the researcher(s)/research group in the text
- In case of an image (high resolution), insert a subtitle and citation
- Submit on A4 portrait orientation, as a PDF file in color
Advertising
- The advertisement has to be related to the AR&D themes
- A maximum of half a page
- Mention the name(s) of the submitter(s)
- Individual submission is possible
- Submit as a photo file (jpeg, png, etc.) in color
Call
- The call does not have to be research-related, but may also be social
- Individual submission is possible
- A maximum of 150 characters (including spaces)
- Mention the name(s) of the submitter(s)
- Provide the contact details of the submitter(s)
- A small accompanying photo is allowed
- Submit as a Word file
Below you can find examples for the four categories.
Tips: Make it as glossy as possible. Be careful with images that you use royalty-free images.
During a later AR&D event (date to be determined) the winners will be announced and the AR&D magazine will be distributed. The magazine cover winning team, including the research group’s PI, will be asked to briefly tell about the research that the respective research group is conducting.
Submission
One submission per category is possible. It is allowed to submit for multiple categories.
The submission should include:
- Name(s) of the submitter(s)
- Department(s) of the submitter(s)
- Email address(es) of the submitter(s)
- Cover + article/ article/ advertisement/ call meeting the above mentioned requirements

Submission deadline
The deadline for the submission of the cover, article, advertisement and/or call is Monday 31 October 2022 before 09.00 hour.
Incomplete submissions, submissions that do not meet the requirements and submissions submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
Assessment procedure
Submissions will be judged by a jury consisting of the AR&D directors and back office. Judging will be done on the basis of different criteria per category. These are the following criteria for each category:

- Originality
Meets the requirements
Article
- AR&D relevant content
- The degree of collaboration with other researchers and/or research groups
- Take home message
- Meets the requirements
Advertisement
- Design
- Originality

- The degree of entertainment
- Meets the requirements
To collect the prize, a declaration can be submitted together with a receipt. The winners will be further informed about the method of declaration after the award ceremony.
