Today's star- Dr. Renée Burger
Dr. Renée Burger is a gynaecologist in training and postdoctoral researcher in the research group of prof. dr. S.J. Gordijn and dr. W. Ganzevoort, who co-lead a national research collaboration on placental insufficiency syndromes.

How does Dr. Renée Burger share her knowledge and findings other than through articles, posters, and presentations?
"The research group hosts a website (www.fetalgrowthrestriction.com / www.tekleinebaby.nl) that offers information to both parents and professionals on fetal growth restriction and the research we conduct. Other recent examples of sharing our knowledge with the wider public include the design of an infographic and visual speaking prompt (Dutch: praatplaat), summarizing results of our research for the professional and lay
audience."
How does the research of Dr. Renée Burger contribute to the health of current and future generations?
"The intrauterine period is a critical window in which the foundation for a child’s lifelong
health and development is laid. Deprivation in utero as a result of placental
insufficiency poses immediate perinatal risks, but also influences long-term health,
including neurocognitive development and cardiometabolic health. Our research
aims to optimize perinatal management of placental insufficiency syndromes, thereby
improving short- and long-term outcomes."
