Vici grant for an AGEM researcher The Dutch Research Council (NWO) has awarded Vici grants to promising researchers from across all scientific disciplines, including an AGEM researcher. This year, 39 distinguished scientists have been awarded this NWO grant, including 1 AGEM esearcher, selected from a total of 384 applications. Each researcher is awarded a maximum of 1.5 million euros. They have been awarded this Vici grant to carry out an innovative research project over the next five years. Congratulations to Jeroen den Dunnen for receiving this grant!

During his inaugural lecture at Amsterdam UMC, Prof. Dr. K.H.N. de Boer stated that not only new medications, but especially the optimal use of existing older drugs, is essential for future‑proof care.
Venous leftovers to the rescue: labs can develop dried blood spot hormone tests without a finger prick Anouk Olthof, Vera de Kleijne and coauthors have been exploring innovative ways to make method validation for dried blood spot easier. Their work shows that hormone measurements from dried blood spot can be validated without recruiting new participants, by smartly using leftover venous blood.
